Marine Extension Program Seminar Series: “Microplastics in our Waters: Sources and Fate”

Date

Expired!

Time

6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Microplastics are emerging contaminants of concern in the water environment due to their prevalence and ingestion by aquatic organisms. Learn about how the Fahrenfeld lab and collaborators at Rutgers Camden Chemistry and Rutgers Marine and Coastal Sciences sample for, chemically analyze, and perform experiments to study the weathering of microplastic pollution. Results from a series of case studies will be presented to answer questions related to (1) the role of municipal wastewater and stormwater runoff as sources of plastic pollution in the freshwater environment and (2) the fate of microplastics in the Raritan-Hudson estuary.

Nicole Fahrenfeld, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Rutgers University, is the featured speaker for this free Zoom webinar.
