Abstract:

Perfluoroalkyl acids have become a pervasive persistent organic pollutant, and have been identified as toxic and bioaccumulative. Our understanding of persistent organic pollutant bioaccumulation modeling changed with PFAAs, as they do not accumulate in the same way that many prior POPs have. I will discuss the major mechanisms and trends associated with PFAA bioaccumulation, and how these mechanisms may impact the magnitude and retention time of PFAA bioaccumulation.
